Student Profile

Meg Lomm: BArtEd 1995

Meg Lomm always wanted to be a teacher. Her parents say that she used to teach her dolls, setting up a classroom on the couch. Meg’s memory is that, “from a very young age, art was the centre of my universe.” So an undergraduate Art Education degree at the College of Fine Arts was a perfect fit.

After graduating from COFA, Meg began teaching in high schools and she is now the Head of Art, Photography and Visual Design at SCECGS Redlands. Meg teaches visual art to students in years 9 to 12 and “Every day is different,” Meg says, “The program might be the same, but the way the students respond is never the same.” The most rewarding aspect of the job for Meg is “fostering student’s creativity and seeing them grow and develop during the years I spend with them.”

As well as nurturing the creativity of others, Meg has continued to develop her own art practice, creating and exhibiting paintings, photographs, ceramics and glassworks.
